Training Camp Journal
July 13, 2007 -  7:07 p.m.
Today was a perfect day for cycling.  It went very well today for the first day of training.  I learned how to do a figure 8 with my bike.

Last night was the welcome party for athletes.  It was very nice.  I turned around to look at something and there was this guy standing near the wall and he smiled at me and I smiled back at him.  I thought he looked like Scott Hamilton, the figure skater.  The assistant coach Ken Hart looked over and said that was Scott Hamilton.  I nearly fainted.  I couldn't believe it.  Later I went over and met him and asked I could get a picture with him - he said yes.

Today cycling was great.  I learned some more new stuff that I will take home with me and keep practicing what I have learned.  Today we did one time trial.  It went good and then we rode around the park.

Tonight was a Nashville Sound baseball game and at the game I didn't know I was going to do something.  I was really surprised.  I and two other athletes from other states after the 6th inning went out onto the baseball field and did this thing called dizzy guitar - where we had to put our head on the handle and turn around or walk around for 30 sec.  Then we had to run for the white line.  I had a great night.

Today I did my time trial for cycling to get times so Coach can send in my time for Shanghai.  We learned some new drills before we did the time trials.  I have learned what events I will be doing when I get there.  I'm very excited about what I will be racing in.

We only rode this morning because we had to go to a celebrity baseball game at 3:00.  It was fun to watch but we didn't stay long.  It's hard to believe I fly home tomorrow because this training camp went by too fast.  I have really enjoyed it and I have made new friends.

We had a great dinner.  There was a fashion show of all the uniforms for World Games and they showed us what we will wear on our trip to World Games.  They were so cool.

I have met some awesome friends from different states who were here for cycling.  I'm going to miss them.  They have become great friends.  I'm going to keep in contact with four of them either by e-mail or letter.

My roommate Kerry became one of my best friends.  We hit it off and got along great.  It is still hard to believe that training camp is over.

GO TEAM USA!!!!
