As we enter the final two days of competition, the athletes are gearing up for tough competition as they go for the gold. Texas athletes are already bringing in the gold, silver and bronze, making the Lone Star State and the U.S.A. very proud!
Today we saw the basketball team from San Antonio's last game. Although they fell to Mexico in a tough game, 35-19, they came out winners with silver medals! The following are other medals earned by Texas athletes thus far:
AQUATICS: Ashley Billard of Houston scored two gold medals in aquatics for the 25M Backstroke and the 100M Freestyle. Texas Nelson swam his way to two silver medals (100M Backstroke and 200M Freestyle) and a gold for the 100M freestyle.
BOWLING: Schelly Porter of Commerce struck silver for Singles bowling.
EQUESTRIAN: Angela Simmons of Bryan rode her way to two bronze medals (Team Relays and Working Trails); James Taylor of Rowlett scored a silver for Dressage and a bronze for English Equitation.
GYMNASTICS: Houstin Gardiner of North Richland Hills brought in four bronze medals (All Around, Horizontal Bar, Parallel Bars, Pommel Horse), one silver for Rings, and a gold for vaulting. Jessica Clopp of Pollok scored two gold medals in Rhythmic Floor and Hoop. Katie Shepherd of Greenville was awarded two bronze (All Around and Rhythmic Hoop) and two silver (Rhythmic Ball and Ribbon).
CYCLING: Chris Hines of Baytown pedaled his way to a gold for the 10K Time Trial and a bronze for the 15K Road Race. Christine Victory of Humble earned two golds for the 1K and 5K Time Trials and a bronze for the 10K Time Trial.
ATHLETICS: Paul Holland of Shady Shores scored a bronze medal for softball throw.
BOCCE: Hillary Kern of Houston rolled in two bronze medals for Doubles and Singles bocce. Adam Vasquez of Kingwood earned a bronze in Singles.
TENNIS: Anders Van Brackle of Kingwood swung his way to a bronze for Doubles.
